Songs for CSA Survivors to Heal & Thrive
Music can be a powerful tool for healing from child sexual abuse; but it can also potentially keep you stuck. Choose carefully what you listen to every day.
Put yourself on a music diet of songs that help you move forward. Steer clear of songs that glamorize pain and abuse or that keep you stuck in detrimental or dangerous thought patterns. Choose songs that help you express your emotions, lift your spirits, help you persevere or amp up your confidence. Even songs that help you get in touch with grief or anger can be helpful at times, but not all the time.
Balance your playlist or create multiple playlists depending on what you need on any given day. And remember, sometimes what you need is not necessarily what you want. Trust your intuition. Deep down inside, you know what’s right for you.
And of course, if there are songs that have helped you on your journey, please drop us a link in the comments below, or send us your suggestions! We’re always looking to make our site the best resource possible and your input is important and welcome.
